During the time of Britain’s Queen Victoria, the country steadily emerged as the most powerful nation if the field of trading in the world. The effects of that emergence were outstanding, and everlasting. The effects of that gain are still being felt in the present day, not only in the United Kingdom, but around the entire world. As the industrial technologies were rapidly advancing, the United Kingdom, was able to become a very powerful force the international trade market. One of the earliest British pioneers that has been credited with British emergence as a powerful international trade country was, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. He was a magnetic ship builder, he designed one of earliest steam engines, that paved the path for modern day British trade. The first ship he designed was the ‘Great Western’. This ship set sail from Bristol England to New York, in a record time, that was never accomplished before. The trip took fourteen days and twelve days and established the steamship era.
